DELETRAZ RETURNS TO F1 WITH PACIFIC
Swiss Formula One driver Jean-Denis Deletraz will make his Formula One comeback at the Portuguese Grand Prix on September 24 when he drives a Pacific-Ford PR02 as team mate to Italy's Andrea Montermini. The 31 year old made his Formula One debut in 1994 when he raced a Larrousse at the Adelaide Grand Prix, and he is looking forward to completing the 1995 Formula One World Championship with Pacific Team Lotus.
The agreement was reached after direct negotiations between Jean-Denis and Pacific's Managing Director Keith Wiggins.
"I am very happy to be returning to Formula One and we will work hard together to make this a competitive end to the season," said Jean-Denis. "Although the Pacific team is quite small, they have a lot of motivation and I think everyone knows that Keith Wiggins is determined to make strong progress in Formula One. For me it is a good opportunity to gain more Formula One experience, and to develop a programme which hopefully will lead to my participation in the 1996 Formula One World Championship."
Speaking on behalf of the team, Keith Wiggins is delighted to have Jean-Denis in the line-up for the remainder of the season.
"Jean-Denis did a very good job for Larrousse when he drove for them at the end of 1994, and he shows a lot of commitment to racing in Formula One. I know him from Formula 3000, when he was very competitive, and from the team's point of view it is good to have a driver like Jean-Denis to give further stability until the end of the season.
"I would like to thank Catamaran Swiss Watches, one of the team's key sponsors since the beginning of 1994, for their cooperation and help in making sure that Jean-Denis can come into Formula One with support from Frank Muller Watches - another Swiss watch company. This kind of support from Catamaran is typical of the commitment of our sponsors."
Jean-Denis Deletraz brings personal sponsorship from Frank Muller Watches, specialist producer of exclusive, high quality, hand made watches.
